ho ho ho! our tummies are full and the turkey population has dropped dramatically! what else could that mean other than thanksgiving is over and christmas is just around the corner?

this holiday season, we'd like to give you a chance to take part in what we hope will be an annual event: select's very first secret santa gift exchange

here is some information about the event!

how it works: you'll have a week to comment the screened post in our journal. you can let us know if you prefer to have a male or female (or just let us know if it doesn't matter either way) and we'll do our best to honor your request. once you've been assigned someone to give your gifts to, there will be four separate drop off dates. you don't have to wait until the actual drop off date, but you should try your best to comment your gift recipient by the assigned date. on the last drop off date (which falls on christmas day) you can choose to reveal yourself to your gift recipient or remain anonymous.

what to give: you're probably wondering what in the world you should give as a gift. anything goes! anything from mixtapes to styles to actual gifts. feel free to be as creative as possible. if there seems to be an interest for it, we can put a post up in our journal to allow for people to comment with gift ideas (what kind of music they list to, what their hobbiest are, etc).

how to comment: everyone who signs up for the secret santa gift exchange should create a post in their journal for their secret santa to comment. be sure to backdate the post and "date out of order" so we don't have a million secret santa drop off posts flooding the friends page. some people may choose to create journals for the secret santa gift exchange, but commenting anonymously is just fine too. because of this, we ask everyone to make sure they have anonymous commenting enabled on their journals. please remember this is for spreading holiday cheer and if you abuse this we will figure out who you are and put you on the naughty list forever.

timeline of events:

november 25-december 1: comment the post by 5pm est to sign up
december 1: receive your secret santa via private message
december 4: first gift drop off
december 11: second gift drop off
december 18: third gift drop off
december 25: final gift drop off and reveal

if you don't receive a comment by 10pm est on december 1, please let us know. private messages can sometimes be a little testy. if you have any questions, don't hesitate to comment this post. comments are screened for your privacy.

the dates are just when the gifts need to be dropped off by, not the exact date you need to drop them off. if you wanted to, you could have all four drop offs done by the middle of the month or whatever works best for you. and we probably won't enforce the final drop off nearly as much as the one's before, so if you were to get it in a few days late that would be okay too. we just don't want anyone to feel like they were forgotten.

i took care of it for this week, so you're all set until next week! if i don't get a comment from you before next sunday i will reassign her for the last two weeks but hopefully you're up and running by then.
